Rakesh Poojary, a beloved television actor and comedian known for his role in Comedy Kiladigalu Season 3, has tragically passed away at the age of 34. Poojary died late on Sunday night due to a sudden heart attack during a pre-wedding ceremony in Nitte, near Udupi. He was attending a mehendi ceremony when he collapsed, and medical personnel pronounced him dead shortly afterward.
Poojary, originally from Karkala in Udupi, gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Hitler Kalyana in a popular Kannada television show. His untimely death has left the Kannada film and television industry in shock, with numerous actors and colleagues expressing their condolences.
“Such terrible news was received this morning. Always smiling, dearest brother who called everyone brother-sister. This is a terrible fate for someone so young. Could this be the age of a heart attack? We were shocked to hear of your death, as you had been determined to see your dreams realized. May God rest your soul,” said actor Kirik Kirti, who shared his grief on social media after learning of Poojary’s sudden passing.
Rakesh Poojary, who also appeared in Kannada movies and Tulu films, dreamed of pursuing a career in the film industry. His recognition came not only from his comedic skills on television but also from his charismatic presence in reality shows and serials. He was a member of the runner-up team in Comedy Kiladigalu Season 2 in 2018, where his talent endeared him to a broad audience.
Family members confirmed that his last rites would be performed in his hometown of Karkala. Rakesh is survived by his mother and sister.
The Karkala Town Police have filed an Unnatural Death Report, with initial investigations suggesting cardiac arrest as the cause of death. Poojary’s passing has left a void in the entertainment industry, and he will be remembered for his infectious energy and warm spirit.
