London-based SC Films International has acquired worldwide sales rights (excluding Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China) for the highly anticipated Indonesian supernatural horror film Melati: Revenge in Blood. The movie, currently in post-production, marks a new chapter in the Losmen Melati universe and stars prominent Indonesian actors Alexandra Gottardo and Dwi Sasono.
Gottardo, known for her role in Losmen Melati, also takes on the role of producer for the film, alongside Freddie Yeo (known for Westworld), Daphne Yang (Losmen Melati), Shao-Yi Chen (Lost in Perfection), Tina Arwin (Pengepungan Di Bukit Duri), and Ninin Musa (Orang Ikan). The project is co-produced by Catchplay, which holds the rights for Southeast Asia, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Melati: Revenge in Blood has received support from the Singapore Film Commission through its Media Enterprise Programme.
Directed and written by Mike Wiluan, Melati: Revenge in Blood follows the story of Fadil, the lone survivor of a haunted inn. Fadil learns that he has been cursed by Melati, an otherworldly entity who wields the inn’s dark power to grant eternal life and resurrection. In a bid for vengeance, Fadil forms a team of mercenaries to track down those responsible for his suffering. However, as he uncovers more about the inn’s resurrection powers, his obsession with bringing back his wife leads to a violent and tragic confrontation.
Wiluan, who co-produced Crazy Rich Asians and directed Orang Ikan, shared his enthusiasm for the project: “Melati is an Indonesian horror icon deeply rooted in local folklore. With Melati: Revenge in Blood, we aim to expand the universe of Losmen Melati through a bold, stylized blend of Asian action horror. I’m excited to present this story to international audiences and thankful to Catchplay and the Singapore Film Commission for their continued support.”
SC Films’ Simon Crowe and Fumie Suzuki Lancaster negotiated the deal alongside Freddie Yeo from Infinite Studios Singapore, and Shao-Yi Chen and Chia-Hua Yeh of Screenworks Asia. The first promo of the film will be available for viewing at the Cannes Market.

Melati is atmospheric, gripping, and wildly original—a bold, high-concept horror film that will undoubtedly captivate international audiences.”

With its mix of traditional folklore and supernatural horror, Melati: Revenge in Blood is set to be a standout film in the genre.
