The arrival of summer brings with it a fresh wave of vampire lore, and the upcoming movie Bleeding is set to contribute to that seasonal tradition. Premiering on Screambox on June 10, this chilling new film promises a unique twist on the genre, blending the supernatural with raw, real-world struggles.
Written, directed, and produced by Andrew Bell, Bleeding stars John R. Howley, Jasper Jones, and Tori Wong. The movie centers on Eric, a 17-year-old grappling with the grief of his brother’s death. When his cousin Sean, the troubled son of an alcoholic cop, gets caught in the dangerous world of “Blood”—a powerful and addictive substance—Eric becomes determined to save him from the same fate that claimed his brother.
Desperate for a solution to their growing problems, Eric and Sean break into an abandoned house, where they discover a young girl locked inside. Initially, the girl seems like a potential escape from their troubles, but her presence soon leads to a series of life-threatening revelations that force Eric to confront both his past and the dangerous world he is now entangled in.
In the newly released trailer, the movie delves into the dark underworld of drugs and addiction, with vampires lurking in the shadows. While the vampires’ pursuit of Eric becomes inevitable by the film’s conclusion, the trailer notably focuses on the more pressing issue: the deadly allure of substance abuse. It raises the question—what is the true horror: an overdose or becoming a vampire?
“This is a story and issue that’s important to me and our team,” said Andrew Bell in a statement. “These experiences shaped who we are. We set out to make something raw, powerful, and honest. We wanted to tell a vampire story, but also show that the real monsters are those who prey on the young, feeding off the people who trust them most.”
Bleeding is set to premiere on Screambox on June 10.
