The Raja Saab Teaser: Prabhas Stars in Genre-Blending Telugu Movie

by Chris Davies

The much-anticipated teaser of The Raja Saab, the upcoming Telugu movie featuring superstar Prabhas, was released on Monday, June 16, setting the stage for a unique blend of romantic comedy and horror fantasy. Directed and written by Maruthi, the film is slated for theatrical release on December 5, 2025.

Following a brief pre-teaser that hinted at the film’s tone and atmosphere, the full teaser offers a glimpse into Prabhas’s dual role, though the storyline remains largely under wraps. The plot centers on the protagonist’s efforts to overcome financial difficulties by targeting his family’s old estate — an eerie, haunted bungalow that serves as the backdrop for the movie’s unfolding mystery.

This film marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and director Maruthi. Joining the lead actor are Malavika Mohanan, making her Telugu debut, alongside Nidhhi Agerwal and Riddhi Kumar. The ensemble cast further includes veteran actors Zarina Wahab, Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Samuthirakani, and VTV Ganesh, creating a powerhouse lineup that promises to captivate audiences.

The origins of The Raja Saab trace back to 2022, when Maruthi pitched the script to Prabhas amidst the actor’s ongoing commitments to blockbuster projects like Salaar and Kalki 2898 AD. Despite a packed schedule, Prabhas gave the green light, and production quietly commenced in October 2022. The movie underwent several working titles, including Raja Deluxe, Royal, and Ambassador, before settling on The Raja Saab in January 2024, announced during the Sankranti festival.

Initially produced by DVV Entertainment, the project later transitioned to People Media Factory, with producers T. G. Vishwa Prasad and Vivek Kuchibotla at the helm. The soundtrack is composed by Thaman S, while cinematography is handled by Karthik Palani and editing by Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao. Distribution will be managed by B4U Motion Pictures and AA Films.

The Raja Saab is set for a wide multilingual release, including dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, aiming to reach a broad audience across India’s diverse film markets. The teaser release has generated significant buzz, hinting at a compelling narrative that melds romantic comedy with elements of horror fantasy—a promising addition to the evolving landscape of the film industry.

For fans interested in exploring more about such movie genres or understanding the dynamics of fantasy movie plots, The Raja Saab could become a standout example of innovative storytelling in Indian cinema.
