20th Century Studios has unveiled the first teaser trailer for Predator: Badlands, igniting speculation among fans about a potential crossover with the Alien franchise. The short clip has already stirred excitement online, thanks to several visual Easter eggs that seem to hint at a merging of the two cinematic universes.
The possibility of an Alien and Predator crossover is not new. The two iconic sci-fi franchises previously collided in Alien vs. Predator (2004) and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007). However, later Alien entries such as Prometheus (2012) and Alien: Covenant (2017) distanced themselves from the crossover narrative, effectively removing those films from the Alien timeline. Still, the potential for integration lingered, dating back to a brief appearance of a Xenomorph-like skull aboard a Predator ship in Predator 2 (1990).
Now, Predator: Badlands may be laying the groundwork for renewed crossover efforts. Notably, the trailer features multiple appearances of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation logo, a hallmark of the Alien movie universe. At the 0:26 mark, the logo can be seen in the eyes of Elle Fanning’s character, Thia—implying that she is an android developed by the shadowy megacorporation. This visual echoes a similar moment in Alien: Romulus (2024), where the logo is visible in the eyes of another synthetic character, Andy, played by David Jonsson.
Another glimpse of the Weyland-Yutani emblem appears at the 0:53 mark in the trailer, further fueling theories. Fans have flocked to social media platforms to share their enthusiasm and dissect these clues. Known industry scooper @MyTimeToShineH posted a screenshot of Thia’s eyes, captioning it, “New Alien vs. Predator, here we come!” Meanwhile, film commentator @blurayangel speculated that the teaser could be “setting up another Alien vs. Predator” movie.
Support for the idea extends beyond fans. In August 2024, Alien: Romulus director Fede Álvarez expressed interest in co-directing a crossover film with Prey filmmaker Dan Trachtenberg, who is also directing Predator: Badlands. Later, 20th Century Studios executive Steve Asbell told The Hollywood Reporter that a crossover between the two franchises was “probably” on the horizon.
Predator: Badlands is set to premiere in U.S. theaters on November 7, 2025. With subtle connections to the Alien franchise embedded in its promotional material, the movie may be the next step toward rekindling one of science fiction’s most explosive cinematic rivalries.
