New “Smurfs” Movie Trailer Released

Paramount Animation has debuted the official full-length trailer for Smurfs, the latest movie installment in the beloved franchise inspired by the original characters created by Belgian artist Peyo.

This new animated adventure follows Smurfette, voiced by global music icon Rihanna, as she leads the Smurfs on a daring rescue mission. When Papa Smurf, portrayed by John Goodman, is captured by the evil wizards Razamel and Gargamel, the tiny blue heroes must venture into the real world to save him. Along the way, they form new alliances and begin to uncover their true purpose in a quest to protect the universe.

Rihanna plays a central role both on- and off-screen, not only voicing the lead character but also contributing as a producer. She has written and performed original songs that help shape the emotional tone and energy of the film.

Directed by Chris Miller from a script by Pam Brady, the movie boasts an impressive ensemble voice cast. In addition to Goodman and Rihanna, the lineup includes Nick Offerman, Natasha Lyonne, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Nick Kroll, James Corden, Octavia Spencer, Hannah Waddingham, Sandra Oh, Alex Winter, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña, and Kurt Russell.

Production duties are shared by Rihanna, Jay Brown, Ty Ty Smith, and Ryan Harris.

Smurfs is scheduled for theatrical release on July 18, offering fans of all ages a fresh, musical take on the iconic blue characters in their biggest movie journey yet.
