The Golden Trailer Awards, the acclaimed ceremony recognizing the creative talents behind movie trailers, commercials, and posters worldwide, will be hosted this year by James Murray—better known as Murr from TBS’s hit series Impractical Jokers. The event is set for Thursday, May 29, at the historic Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

Murr, a comedian, writer, and producer, rose to fame with Impractical Jokers after nearly a decade as senior vice president of development at NorthSouth Productions. Now the owner of Impractical Studios, he is also an international bestselling author with works spanning sci-fi horror, suspense thrillers, and middle-grade fiction. Notably, his horror movie Don’t Move is scheduled for theatrical release soon.

Evelyn Brady, executive director of the Golden Trailer Awards, praised Murr’s comedic style as an ideal fit for the event. “Impractical Jokers turns the hidden-camera format on its head, placing Murr and his friends in absurd, spontaneous situations. He’ll keep the ceremony lively and engaging,” Brady said.

The show will also feature an eclectic group of presenters from the comedy world, including Food Network’s digital host Chanel Ali, Brooklyn-based stand-up and writer Nico Carney, Daily Show writer and stand-up comedian Dina Hashem, New York comedian and actor Chloe Radcliffe, and Becky Robinson, creator of the popular character Entitled Housewife.

“These presenters highlight the diversity and talent of rising comedy stars,” said Monica Brady, the show’s executive producer. “Together with Murr, they promise to deliver an entertaining and fresh ceremony.”

The Golden Trailer Awards is a highly anticipated event, attracting a packed audience of studio and network marketing executives, creative agency representatives, media professionals, and celebrities. The awards cover 114 categories celebrating excellence in movie marketing.

Last year’s ceremony saw over 1,000 attendees and honored MOCEAN with the prestigious Best of Show award for their work on Disney/Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine teaser titled Taken. Disney dominated with 19 wins, followed closely by Netflix with 17, while AV Squad earned Agency of the Year honors.

As the Golden Trailer Awards celebrate the artistry behind movie marketing, this year’s event promises a night of humor, recognition, and industry celebration under the guidance of Murr and an exciting lineup of comedy talent.
