Global music sensation Bad Bunny is further cementing his place in Hollywood with his latest movie role in Caught Stealing, a high-stakes action thriller directed by acclaimed filmmaker Darren Aronofsky. Starring alongside Austin Butler and Zoë Kravitz, the Puerto Rican artist—born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio—takes on a bold new character, portraying a hardened gangster.
The official trailer for Caught Stealing debuted on May 21, giving fans a first glimpse of Bad Bunny’s intense performance. In a gripping scene opposite Butler’s character, Hank Thompson, Bad Bunny’s gangster persona declares, “Either I get what I want or my pistol talks for me.” The gritty line sets the tone for a film steeped in danger, deception, and unexpected twists.
Based on Charlie Huston’s cult novel, Caught Stealing follows an ex-baseball player whose life spirals out of control after a simple cat-sitting job turns into a deadly game of survival. Aronofsky, known for psychological dramas such as Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan, brings his signature intensity to the story. The trailer’s tagline teases the chaos: “He was just supposed to watch the cat. Now he’s running for his f**king life.”
Joining Bad Bunny, Butler, and Kravitz in the ensemble cast are Regina King, Liev Schreiber, Vincent D’Onofrio, Griffin Dunne, and Carol Kane. The movie is set to hit theaters on August 29, and is already generating buzz across entertainment circles for its unique movie characters and edge-of-your-seat narrative.
This isn’t Bad Bunny’s first foray into film. He’s also slated to appear in Happy Gilmore 2, where he plays Adam Sandler’s caddie, further showcasing his expanding versatility across movie genres.
His cinematic ventures come amid a record-breaking run in music. The Puerto Rican superstar recently closed out the 50th season of Saturday Night Live with a headline-making performance, including skits and live renditions of “Nuevayol” and “Perfumito Nuevo.” At the same time, his Debí Tirar Más Fotos world tour has already sold a staggering 2.6 million tickets worldwide. The tour kicks off in November in the Dominican Republic, solidifying Bad Bunny’s status as a powerhouse in both music and film.
With Aronofsky at the helm and a powerhouse cast, Caught Stealing is poised to be one of this year’s most compelling action films—proving once again that Bad Bunny’s star power knows no bounds.
