Skydance Eyes New Action-Adventure Movie Starring Alan Ritchson

by Chris Davies

Skydance is reportedly in talks to acquire Fortune, an upcoming action-adventure movie set to star Alan Ritchson. While the plot remains tightly under wraps, insiders describe the project as a thrilling blend of Memento and Raiders of the Lost Ark, promising a captivating experience for fans of intricate storytelling and high-stakes adventure.

The screenplay will be penned by Neil Widener and Gavin James—known for their work on A Minecraft Movie—based on their own original short story. Legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer is also attached to the project, joining forces with Ritchson to bring this exciting film to life.

Ritchson’s rising star is closely linked to the tremendous success of the Reacher series on Prime Video. The third season, which premiered earlier this year, has been praised as possibly the best adaptation yet, with critics highlighting the show’s gripping action and complex characters. Amazon MGM Studios recently announced a renewal for a fourth season of Reacher, with Vernon Sanders, head of television, calling the show “a phenomenon that continues to resonate globally.” Sanders also praised the creative team, including Nick Santora, Alan Ritchson, Lee Child, Skydance, and CBS Studios, for consistently delivering thrilling adventure movie plots.

Ritchson himself has teased intense physical stunts for the upcoming season, describing it as “the most intensely physical season yet” on Instagram, and hinted it could be the “best season yet.” Meanwhile, a Reacher spinoff series focusing on Frances Neagley, played by Maria Sten, is currently in production. This spin-off promises to deepen the story within the Reacher universe, centering on Neagley’s pursuit of justice after a close friend’s suspicious death.

Beyond the Reacher franchise, Ritchson’s upcoming film projects include starring alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Man with the Bag, a festive action-comedy where Santa teams up with a petty criminal to recover his stolen sack of presents.
