Aura Entertainment has officially acquired the U.S. distribution rights to the action comedy Code 3, starring Rainn Wilson, Lil Rel Howery, and Aimee Carrero. Produced by Wayfarer Studios, the film is scheduled to hit theaters nationwide on September 12.
Code 3 centers on a burned-out paramedic who embarks on one last 24-hour shift to train his replacement, only to have the night unravel into unexpected chaos. The movie delivers a high-energy blend of heart, humor, and adrenaline-pumping action, featuring an ensemble cast that includes Rob Riggle and Yvette Nicole Brown. Directed by Christopher Leone, known for Parallels, the film’s script was co-written with former paramedic Patrick Pianezza, lending authenticity to its gripping action movie plot.
The acquisition bolsters Aura Entertainment’s rapidly expanding film slate, now boasting 15 titles with seven slated for release in 2025. Among the upcoming titles is Trap House, an action-packed feature starring Dave Bautista, set for wide release on November 14. Aura’s CEO, Marc Goldberg, described Code 3 as “a hilarious, feel-good ride — anchored by two of the most beloved names in comedy today,” emphasizing the company’s commitment to “elevated, genre-bending films that truly resonate with audiences.”
Andrew Calof, president of production at Wayfarer Studios, praised Aura’s partnership as an “incredible experience,” noting the distributor’s “innovative approach” as a perfect match for the modern film industry’s evolving landscape. This collaboration highlights the growing importance of fresh distribution strategies in today’s dynamic market. For insight into current trends in the film industry, Aura’s approach is a prime example.
The production team behind Code 3 includes Matt Smith of Electro Corduroy Entertainment and Lawrence Mattis of Circle of Confusion, alongside Wayfarer Studios’ Justin Baldoni and Andrew Calof, and Realdream’s Paul “Pizza” Pianezza. Executive producers feature Steve Sarowitz and Angela Cardon for Wayfarer Studios, as well as Wilson and Howery themselves, with Michael D. Jones of Silver Heart Productions. Megan Herring co-produced on behalf of Circle of Confusion.
With its blend of sharp comedy and intense action sequences, Code 3 is poised to make a significant impact both on screens and within the action movie reviews community.
