Pete Davidson, known for his comedic chops on Saturday Night Live, takes a daring turn in the upcoming horror-thriller The Home, directed by James DeMonaco—the mind behind The Purge franchise. This movie plunges viewers into a nightmarish retirement home where sinister secrets lurk behind quiet facades.
Davidson plays Max, a twenty-something sentenced to community service at a seemingly peaceful retirement home. However, the tranquility is shattered when Max is warned about the mysterious fourth floor, home to residents who need “special care.” What starts as an easy punishment soon spirals into terror as Max discovers the facility’s eerie underbelly—whispers give way to screams, and the elderly reveal a far more dangerous nature than anyone could have imagined. As an elderly resident ominously tells him, “There’s something very wrong with this place.”
The official trailer, quickly establishes a tense and unsettling atmosphere, hinting at violent outbursts and strange medical experiments reminiscent of psychological horror classics like Session 9. Max’s desperate pleas for mercy are met with vicious attacks, setting the tone for a gripping thriller that blends suspense and gore.
James DeMonaco, who co-wrote the screenplay with Adam Cantor, explains his vision for the film: “When I set out to create The Home, I aimed to capture the spine-chilling eeriness of 70’s horror, where suspense simmers and ultimately erupts into glorious chaos. Joining me is my Staten Island brother, Pete Davidson, who unveils a darker, dramatic side as his character navigates a bizarre group of residents in an old age home.”
DeMonaco promises an explosive climax, designed to thrill horror enthusiasts: “The growing tension culminates in an epic blood-soaked finale, designed to leave audiences gasping, terrified, and cheering.
The Home features a supporting cast that includes John Glover and Bruce Altman and is set for release in US cinemas on July 25.
