Chunky Panday Shines at ‘The Royals’ Trailer Launch

by Chris Davies

The trailer launch of the highly anticipated Netflix series The Royals took place at a studio in Mumbai, where a host of celebrities including Bhumi Pednekar, Ishaan Khatter, Chunky Panday, Dino Morea, Sakshi Tanwar, Sumukhi Suresh, Kavya Trehan, Vihaan Samat, Lisa Mishra, and Udit Arora gathered to celebrate the upcoming release. The launch event featured an unconventional setup, with actors seated at a large, elegantly designed table in the center, facing the journalists on both sides.

Among the many highlights of the event, it was Chunky Panday who garnered the most attention, with his quick wit and humorous remarks stealing the spotlight. Panday, who is known for his comedic timing, humorously introduced himself as “the king of comedy,” a title he proudly gave to himself. Reflecting on his college days, Panday joked, “In college, I was called ‘Your Highness’ because I was always high!” With his signature comedic flair, he quickly clarified, “I am joking!” in reference to his iconic Housefull persona.

The actor also shared an amusing anecdote about his first encounter with royalty. “When I met a royal person for the first time, I didn’t know whether to shake his hand, greet him with a ‘Namaste,’ or touch his feet. I thought ‘Hukum’ was his first name because everyone kept calling him ‘Hukum, Hukum.’ I even asked him, ‘Hukum, what’s your surname?’ Not realizing that ‘Hukum’ means Maharaj!” Panday’s playful storytelling offered insight into his humorous approach to the royal world, something he brought into his character for The Royals.

On a more serious note, Panday expressed his excitement about being part of the show and revealed that his involvement was a last-minute addition. He also shared a fun tidbit about learning polo for the series. “The boys had two months to learn polo, but they only gave me two days!” he laughed, adding that it was a challenging yet enjoyable experience. “I hope I feature in part 2 as well!” he concluded.

The Royals, which promises to deliver both drama and humor, will be available for streaming on Netflix starting May 9.
