by Chris Davies

This morning, the official teaser trailer for Weapons, the highly anticipated horror film directed by Zach Cregger of Barbarian fame, was released, offering fans a chilling glimpse into the mystery surrounding the film.

The 44-second teaser only adds to the suspense, featuring cryptic footage and a stark message: “This is where the story really starts.” While the film’s plot remains largely under wraps, a basic outline has emerged. The film is set in the town of Maybrook, where, one fateful night, 17 children mysteriously vanish at precisely 2:17 a.m. and never return. The teaser primarily showcases security camera footage from that night, marking the first actual look at the film itself.

What’s particularly eerie about these disappearances is that the children weren’t abducted; they left their homes willingly, walking out under their own power. But the question remains: why? Who, or what, is behind this strange event?

It reveals a chilling statement: “A chilling mystery has gripped the small town of Maybrook after 17 children voluntarily left their homes Wednesday morning. Authorities are baffled by the inexplicable disappearance, which has shaken the community to its core. Upon investigation, front door camera footage showed the children leaving their homes at 2:17 a.m. Wednesday morning without any signs of force. Since then, little information has surfaced.”

Weapons is slated for release in theaters on August 8, 2025.

The film boasts an impressive cast, including Josh Brolin (Dune: Part Two), Julia Garner (The Royal Hotel), Alden Ehrenreich (Cocaine Bear), Benedict Wong (3 Body Problem), Amy Madigan (Antlers), Austin Abrams (Euphoria), and Cary Christopher (Days of Our Lives). Fans can expect a spine-tingling mystery as the film unfolds.
