“Squid Game” Final Season Trailer Drops

by Chris Davies

Netflix‘s highly anticipated Squid Game will return with its final season on June 27, and the newly released trailer promises even more intense and brutal challenges. The stakes are higher than ever, and as the game continues, no one is safe—least of all the show’s lead character, Seong Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae).

In a chilling new sequence, Gi-hun is revealed inside a massive black gift box—one that guards typically use to dispose of the bodies of fallen players. When players cautiously approach and open the box, they are confronted with the shocking sight of Gi-hun waking up, signaling the start of a new deadly game. A giant gumball machine dispenses red and blue balls, representing the fates of the players and the upcoming challenges they will face.

Netflix teases that the final season will pick up from Season 2’s heart-wrenching cliffhanger, thrusting Gi-hun (Player 456) back into the heart of the games, where his ultimate goal is to dismantle them once and for all. Still reeling from the betrayal and loss of his closest ally, Jung-bae (Player 390), Gi-hun will face a new series of threats, including the return of the ominous Front Man, who previously infiltrated the rebellion under the guise of Player 001.

The trailer also reveals the return of several familiar faces from past seasons, including the Front Man, detective Hwang Jun-ho, and players Myung-gi (Player 333), Dae-ho (Player 388), Hyun-ju (Player 120), Yong-sik (Player 007), Geum-ja (Player 149), Jun-hee (Player 222), Min-su (Player 125), Nam-gyu (Player 124), and the pink guard No-eul.

As the action-packed trailer concludes, the screen fades to black, and the sound of a baby crying emerges. This moment suggests that Kim Jun-hee (played by Jo Yu-ri) may have recently given birth, adding yet another layer of intrigue and emotional complexity to the story.
