Signature Entertainment in the UK has unveiled the official trailer for Tin Soldier, a gripping new action thriller directed by Brad Furman, known for hits like The Lincoln Lawyer and Runner Runner. Despite its impressive cast and intense premise, the movie will launch exclusively on Prime Video UK this summer, with no confirmed release date for the US market.
The film centers on “The Bokushi,” a charismatic and dangerous leader of a secretive mercenary cult that recruits US combat veterans seeking renewed purpose. Concerned by the growing power of this elite, heavily armed faction, the government enlists Emmanuel Ashburn, a seasoned operative, who then turns to Nash Cavanaugh—an ex-special forces soldier and former disciple of The Bokushi—to infiltrate and dismantle the organization. Nash’s mission is personal: revenge against the man who destroyed his life and stole the love of his life.
Starring Jamie Foxx as the enigmatic cult leader, alongside Robert De Niro, Scott Eastwood, John Leguizamo, Joey Bicicchi, and Rita Ora, Tin Soldier boasts a strong lineup that seems unusual for a film heading straight to video on demand. Foxx’s portrayal of the kooky mercenary leader promises a magnetic, if unconventional, performance.
The screenplay, penned by Jess Fuerst and Pablo Fenjves with contributions from Furman, builds a tense narrative of loyalty, betrayal, and vengeance. Produced by Steven Chasman, Brad Feinstein, Jess Fuerst, Brad Furman, Keith Kjarval, and Jim Seibel, the film dives deep into the psychological and physical battles of war veterans caught between past trauma and present danger.
While some critics speculate Tin Soldier may follow the trend of other action movies swiftly relegated to digital platforms due to lackluster reception, fans of the action movie genre and action movie plots may find intrigue in its story of mercenary cults and covert operations.
Tin Soldier will premiere on Prime Video UK starting July 23, 2025.
