‘Pins and Needles’: A Deadly Game of Survival

by Chris Davies

Inspired by third-person role-playing games, Pins and Needles delivers a gripping fusion of cat-and-mouse horror and medical thriller genres that promises to keep audiences on edge. The Canadian film is set to premiere on Video on Demand (VOD) platforms starting June 24, courtesy of Filmhub.

The story follows Max, a diabetic biology graduate student whose routine trip back to campus spirals into a harrowing nightmare. Trapped in a sinister new-age wellness experiment, Max faces a dire situation as her insulin supply dwindles. Forced into a deadly game of survival, she must evade capture at all costs or risk becoming the next test subject in a cruel effort to extend the lives of the wealthy elite.

Pins and Needles marks the feature directorial debut of James Villeneuve, the writer behind the cult hit Vicious Fun. Villeneuve also penned the script, ensuring the film’s chilling narrative is tightly woven and suspenseful.

The cast includes Chelsea Clark (Ginnie & Georgia), Ryan McDonald (Fringe), Kate Corbett (Fargo), Daniel Gravelle (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark), and Damian Romeo (Fear Street: Prom Queen), who bring depth to the movie characters caught in this high-stakes thriller.

Produced by Vortex Media in association with Super Channel, Pins and Needles first aired on Super Channel’s Fuse network in Canada last November.
