Actor Ajay Devgn on Thursday revealed the first vibrant poster of his upcoming movie, Son of Sardaar 2, reigniting excitement among fans eager for a return to his comedic roots. The poster features Devgn donning a traditional turban, symbolizing the spirited character that audiences loved in the original 2012 action comedy.
Son of Sardaar 2 is the much-anticipated sequel to the 2012 hit, which also starred Sonakshi Sinha. Marking a notable shift from the actor’s recent streak of intense action dramas like Singham Again, Bholaa, and Maidaan, this new film sees Devgn revisiting the movie genre of comedy, a space where he has previously shined. While not aiming to match the scale of comedic franchises like Golmaal or Bol Bachchan, the film promises to deliver hearty laughs and robust entertainment in theaters.
Behind the scenes, the film experienced casting changes. Actor Vijay Raaz, initially part of the project, was reportedly replaced following a disagreement with the director. Veteran actor Sanjay Mishra stepped in at the last moment. In an interview, Mishra reflected on his sudden involvement, saying,
“I did the film because I got a call from Ajay Devgn. One call from him and that’s all it takes for me to say yes. He’s a close friend and has been there for me in tough times. Not just that, replacing Vijay wasn’t easy.”
Son of Sardaar 2 also features notable names including Sanjay Dutt, Sahil Mehta, Kubbra Sait, and Ravi Kishan, further strengthening the ensemble cast. As anticipation builds, audiences can look forward to the film’s theatrical release on July 25.
