‘Wicked: For Good’ Movie Poster and Trailer Date Revealed

by Chris Davies

Universal Pictures has officially unveiled the first poster for its highly anticipated Wicked: For Good movie, following an earlier leak at this year’s CinemaCon. Alongside the poster reveal, the studio has confirmed the release date for the film’s first trailer, which will debut in theaters on June 4.

Official Poster Highlights Iconic Characters and Setting

The poster features a visually striking depiction of Elphaba and Glinda standing atop opposing cliffs, each styled with foliage that reflects their individual personalities. Between them, the Yellow Brick Road winds its way toward the distant Emerald City, which is surrounded by flying monkeys.

Above the title and the film’s release date, the poster displays the tagline: “You Will Be Changed.” This phrase references the emotional closing lyrics of the song “For Good” from the Broadway musical, which reads, “I have been changed.”

Trailer to Premiere in Theaters on June 4

According to Yahoo Entertainment, Universal Pictures has confirmed that the Wicked: For Good trailer will premiere exclusively in North American theaters on June 4. This trailer reveal will take place during a special one-night-only theatrical return of the original Wicked movie across the United States and Canada.

Fans attending the event will receive exclusive giveaways, including a limited-edition commemorative poster. After the theatrical screenings, the trailer will also be made available online.

The announcement was shared via the official Wicked Movie Instagram account, featuring stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. Erivo and Grande play the lead roles of Elphaba and Glinda in the upcoming film.

A Legacy of Wickedness

The Wicked: For Good movie is an adaptation of the first act of the popular stage musical Wicked, which debuted on Broadway in 2003. That musical was itself based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. Maguire’s novel reimagines the classic Wizard of Oz story, originally written by L. Frank Baum in 1900 and brought to global fame by the 1939 film, which famously portrayed the Wicked Witch of the West with green skin.

The first Wicked film adaptation premiered last winter, setting the stage for the second installment, Wicked: For Good, which is scheduled to release this November.

Theme Park Expansion Ties Into Movie Launch

Universal Destinations & Experiences is expanding the Wicked universe beyond the screen. Plans are underway to bring the franchise to life in the company’s theme parks. Currently, Universal Studios Japan is hosting a “Wicked Celebration” from March 7 through December 31. This celebration coincides with the film’s release window and offers immersive experiences for fans.

Meanwhile, Universal Studios Hollywood will include Wicked character encounters during its “Universal Fan Fest Nights,” allowing guests to meet the witches in person.

As the Wicked: For Good movie prepares to take center stage, excitement is building among fans of the musical, the novel, and the classic Oz legacy.
