Prime Video has released the official teaser for the gripping crime-thriller Stolen, starring Abhishek Banerjee. The movie, which made waves at several international festivals, will be available for streaming globally starting June 4, 2025.
First premiering at the prestigious Venice Film Festival 2023, where it received a standing ovation, Stolen has since established itself as a critical darling. The film is a searing exploration of morality and justice, centered on a baby’s abduction witnessed by two urban brothers at a rural Indian railway station. What follows is a relentless investigation into the underbelly of crime and despair, all underscored by deep emotional resonance.
Backed by cinematic heavyweights Anurag Kashyap, Kiran Rao, Nikkhil Advani, and Vikramaditya Motwane, Stolen is directed by Karan Tejpal in his debut feature, and co-written with Swapnil Salkar – Agadbumb and producer Gaurav Dhingra.
“Stolen exemplifies Prime Video’s commitment to bold, meaningful storytelling,” said Manish Menghani, Director and Head of Content Licensing at Prime Video India. “This edge-of-the-seat thriller delves into trauma, justice, and human resilience—elements that make it more than just a movie.”
Kashyap praised the film’s raw intensity, stating, “Cinema must be fearless. Stolen grabbed me from the first frame and didn’t let go. It’s unflinching and emotionally raw—a true reflection of what defines the genre of a crime thriller.”
Kiran Rao highlighted the powerful portrayal of the character Jhumpa, describing her as “a reminder of the strength found in the most unexpected places.” Nikkhil Advani echoed this sentiment, calling the film “tense, gripping, and emotionally resonant.”
Vikramaditya Motwane commended the film’s precision: “Every beat is purposeful. Stolen delivers suspense with soul—a rare cinematic combination.”
Producer and co-writer Gaurav Dhingra added, “This emotionally resonant thriller is the result of a deeply collaborative effort. From scripting to festival success, Stolen represents the kind of impactful movie genre we strive to create at Jungle Book Studio.”
The ensemble cast includes Harish Khanna, Mia Maelzer, Sahidur Rahaman, and Shubham, alongside Banerjee in a compelling lead performance. The film has clinched multiple awards, including Best Director, Best Cinematography, and Best Female Actor at the Beijing International Film Festival, along with Best Film and Best Director at Japan’s Skip City International D-Cinema Festival. It also earned a Special Mention at the Zurich Film Festival.
In India, Stolen was showcased at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival and the International Film Festival of Kerala, reaffirming its resonance both at home and abroad.
As the global release approaches, audiences can expect an unforgettable narrative experience that pushes the boundaries of the film industry and redefines the standards for Indian thrillers.
Stolen will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on June 4, 2025, streaming across 240 countries and territories.
