The highly anticipated movie Tiger vs Pathaan, starring Bollywood icons Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, may not arrive in cinemas as soon as fans had hoped—but it hasn’t been shelved, despite earlier rumors suggesting otherwise.
Recent reports indicate that Yash Raj Films (YRF) is actively revisiting the project, seeking to reshape the ambitious spy thriller rather than scrapping it. This comes after Salman Khan had previously remarked that the film was “not happening” at the moment, prompting widespread speculation about its future.
Industry sources reveal that producer Aditya Chopra is reassessing the creative direction of the YRF Spy Universe, which began with Ek Tha Tiger in 2012. “[Chopra] believes the Spy Universe films are veering toward repetition and need a revitalized approach to storytelling and presentation,” an insider told.
Rather than abandoning major titles such as Tiger vs Pathaan, the intent is to reimagine them. The same source emphasized the studio’s commitment to avoiding formula fatigue by introducing new narrative styles and innovative cinematic techniques. This decision is seen as an effort to maintain audience engagement in an increasingly saturated action-espionage genre.
The crossover showdown between Salman’s RAW agent Tiger and Shah Rukh’s Pathaan—who was last seen in the 2023 blockbuster Pathaan—has been eagerly awaited by fans. However, no formal announcement has been made regarding the film’s revised release plans.
The Spy Universe continues to expand, with Hrithik Roshan’s Kabir from the WAR franchise and Alia Bhatt’s upcoming project Alpha still on track for release in the coming months.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is currently filming his next action movie titled King, where he will star alongside his daughter Suhana Khan. Although this won’t mark her acting debut, it will be the first time the father-daughter duo share the screen, further fueling anticipation.
