This live-action/CG animated hybrid feature marks a major milestone for the beloved show, which has captivated young audiences since its debut on Netflix in 2021.
Created by Blue’s Clues veterans Traci Paige Johnson and Jennifer Twomey, Gabby’s Dollhouse is a mixed-media preschool series that features a delightful blend of surprise unboxings and a fantastical animated world inhabited by charming cat characters. The series has become a favorite among children worldwide, offering an imaginative escape into Gabby’s dollhouse.
In Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie, Gabby, voiced by Laila Lockhart Kraner (returning to her role from the series), embarks on an exciting road trip with her Grandma Gigi, played by four-time Grammy Award winner Gloria Estefan. Their journey leads them to Cat Francisco, an urban wonderland. However, when Gabby’s cherished dollhouse falls into the hands of an eccentric cat lady named Vera (voiced by Oscar nominee Kristen Wiig), Gabby must set off on a mission to reunite the Gabby Cats and save her beloved dollhouse before it’s too late.
The movie boasts a star-studded voice cast, including Saturday Night Live alumni Ego Nwodim, Kyle Mooney, and Melissa Villaseñor, as well as Emmy nominee Thomas Lennon, Jason Mantzoukas, and Fortune Feimster. The original series cast also returns, with characters like Pandy Paws, CatRat, Cakey, DJ Catnip, Baby Box, and MerCat all making appearances.
Directed by Ryan Crego, an executive producer of Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh and I Heart Arlo, Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie showcases his knack for family-friendly storytelling. Crego was previously nominated for a Children’s and Family Emmy for his television feature Arlo the Alligator Boy. The film is produced by Steven Schweickart, known for his work on major DreamWorks hits like How to Train Your Dragon, The Croods, and Kung Fu Panda 4. Executive producers Twomey and Johnson are also credited for creating the Gabby’s Dollhouse series.
