Vertical has secured North American rights to J.C. Doler’s horror movie The Twin, scheduled for release on July 1. The film promises a chilling narrative that blends atmospheric storytelling with deeply emotional themes.
The Twin stars Logan Donovan (Magnum P.I.) as Nicholas, a man grappling with profound grief who begins experiencing visions of a mysterious figure identical to himself. Aleksa Palladino (The Penguin) plays Charlie, Nicholas’s wife, while Robert Longstreet (The Fall of the House of Usher) portrays Dr. Beaumont, Nicholas’s psychiatrist. Drawing heavily from Irish folklore, the film crafts a haunting tale that examines the dark recesses of the human mind.
Vertical’s senior vice president of acquisitions, Tony Piantedosi, praised the film’s unique combination of eerie direction and powerful performances. “J.C.’s atmospheric direction, paired with Logan’s haunted and physically impressive performance, has resulted in a deeply chilling story that horror fans will love. We look forward to presenting the film to North American audiences this summer,” he said.
Produced by a team including Donovan, Alexander Jeffery, and Doler himself, with executive producers Jaime Schwartzberg and others, the movie benefits from the visual expertise of director of photography Joel Froome.
For Doler, making his directorial debut, The Twin represents more than just a horror movie. “It’s a story about the things we try to bury that somehow find a way to dig themselves out,” he remarked, reflecting on the psychological depths explored in the film.
This upcoming release is sure to engage fans of horror movie plots that delve into psychological thriller elements, blending folklore and suspense in a way that revitalizes the genre.
