Production is officially underway on La desconocida (“The Unknown”), a gripping new movie based on the novel by Rosa Montero and Olivier Truc. Featuring a powerhouse cast, the film stars Candela Peña (The Asunta Case, Hierro), Ana Rujas (The Messiah, The Vineyard), and Pol López (See You in Another Life, Heirs to the Land), with notable appearances by Manolo Solo (30 Coins) and Kira Miró (Alpha Males, Headless Chickens).
Set against the atmospheric backdrop of Barcelona’s port, the crime thriller opens with a chilling discovery: a woman (played by Rujas) is found bound and gagged inside a shipping container, with no memory of who she is or how she got there. As her life hangs in the balance following a second attempt on her life in the hospital, Detective Anna Ripoll (Peña) and Officer Quique Zárate (López) are tasked with unraveling the mystery. What begins as a standard case quickly escalates into a suspense-filled race to uncover the woman’s identity and the dark secrets buried in her past.
Produced by K&S Films (The Eternaut, Wild Tales), La desconocida is being filmed in both Barcelona and Algeciras. Direction is helmed by Gabe Ibáñez (Muted), with a screenplay written by Lara Sendim (The Last Night at Tremore Beach). Executive producers Matías Mosteirín and Pola Zito are steering the project, which promises to deliver the intensity and complexity expected from top-tier entries in the crime movie genre.
While no release date has been announced yet, La desconocida is already generating buzz for its atmospheric storytelling and psychological depth—hallmarks of great movie characters in the film industry. As production continues, fans of sophisticated thrillers should keep an eye on this promising entry into the ever-evolving world of crime movie plots.
